If you have seen and enjoyed Speak No Evil, you might be hoping for a sequel. But will there be a Speak No Evil 2? Here’s what we know at the time of writing.
What is Speak No Evil about?
Christian Tafdrup’s dark horror film focuses on a Danish family who meet a friendly Dutch family while they are on vacation in Tuscany. They later receive an invite to share a weekend away with this family in their Netherlands home but they soon begin to regret their decision when their hosts make them feel uncomfortable. At first, they feel awkward because their hosts play music too loudly and make out in front of them. But as the weekend drags on, their experience becomes far worse and they start to realise they have been led into a trap. What happens next? Will there be a Speak No Evil 2?
A sequel to Speak No Evil hasn’t been announced so we aren’t sure if a follow-up movie will happen. This is disappointing but as the first film is getting a lot of positive attention, we wouldn’t be too surprised if a sequel was announced at some point in the near future.
What could happen in Speak No Evil 2?
The sequel would likely focus on the host family who made the lives of the visiting couple hell in the first film. We would likely see them on another vacation making friends with another innocent family. The story would then follow the pattern of Speak No Evil with the two families spending time together in the Netherlands. As in the original film, all hell would then break loose but rather than be an exact copy of the events that took place in Speak No Evil, we imagine the director and writers would have a few twists in store to keep us on our toes.
When could Speak No Evil 2 be released?
As there is no news of a sequel at this stage, it’s hard to say for sure. The director of Speak No Evil doesn’t have many projects on the go at the moment (according to his IMDB page) so it might be that he has time to push Speak No Evil 2 into production. If this is the case, we could see a sequel in 2023 but until we get official confirmation, this is just speculation.
