Adorable Returns
Episode 7 of Monsters at Work begins with the city experiencing a heatwave. That spells bad news for Monsters Inc as they’re forced to increase their laugh power. Well, Mike recruits all those from the comedy class over the weeks to step up for emergency laugh power. Tylor is among those in attendance, with a grand prize of becoming a laughster on the line at the end. Whoever finishes first in the league table will be able to do this as a full-time gig so the pressure is well and truly on. Through a series of unfortunate events, Tylor finds himself stuck in an ice planet. Wait, this is strangely familiar? When he awakens, Tylor finds himself strung upside down in a nice little parody to The Empire Strikes Back. Of course, there’s no force powers here – but there is the yeti from Monsters Inc! He helps Tylor down and shows off his ice sculptures too. It’s here Tylor realizes that the doorway he went through is actually a banishment door. Well, Val manages to save Tylor before it’s too late. It turns out the yeti was actually banished because he wasn’t happy with the idea of the scream extractor. Well, Tylor makes a big decision and chooses against competing on the laugh floor. Instead, he joins up with Abominable to make some snow cones for Mike and the others. This kind gesture, plus an obvious change in management now, means yeti is no longer banished and is able to work at Monsters Inc headquarters.
The Episode Review
Monsters at Work closes out with a solid episode this week, one that builds on the Monsters Inc lore and does so with some solid jokes and a decent pacing. The entire 20 minute chapter helps to show the value of friendship while building on what we’ve seen in the films. It certainly makes for a satisfying watch and the entire episode works really well to develop each of the different characters. Overall, this show has been another solid entry on the Disney roster and this episode is no exception.
