The series is the perfect binge-watch thanks to its interesting premise and shorter episodes, each clocking in at around 35 to 40 minutes. Some of the sub-plots do feel a little far-fetched though so this drama is best watched without thinking too much about the science and enjoying the ride. The series gets straight to the heart of the action as we are introduced very quickly to our main characters. Struggling after the loss of her boyfriend, Sylvie is determined to get on a flight to Russia while Terenzio arrives in Brussels and appears desperate to get on any planes due west. After going through security, he decides to storm a plane heading to Russia ( the same as Sylvie) with a stolen gun and demands they change its direction or they will all die because of a deadly phenomenon caused by the sun. The show centers around this foreboding cataclysmic event which sees the sun kill everyone in its path and follows our group of survivors as they face multiple obstacles, desperately running away from this deadly threat. What Into The Night manages to nail throughout its run-time though is great tension and excitement. The series is the right length with 6 episodes, squeezing in as much content into these shorter episodes as possible to make for a fast-paced thrill ride. The characters are what make the show stand out though and this diverse and likable group are enough to help you get behind and root for their survival. Each episode focuses on a different passenger and offers up a unique little flashback at the beginning. The show never lingers in the past too long though and the connection and relationship between the survivors develops and grows over time, helped by the great chemistry between the cast. The actors have done a great job with their roles and give some decent and believable performances, portraying a range of diverse characters. Into The Night does end with the expected cliffhanger but still gives a good conclusion to the main premise while leaving things open for a second season. Almost the entire runtime is set in the plane but the show manages to instill enough dread, tension and drama to keep you gripped to the climax. Overall though, Into The Night is a great sci-fi thriller with plenty of twist and turns, guaranteed to keep you at the edge of your seat just like our survivors are during their nail-biting journey. It may not be perfect, and some of the science is a little questionable, but there’s enough here to enjoy nonetheless.
