What is The Santa Clauses about?
Following on from the successful Christmas movie series, The Santa Claus, this limited series picks up three decades after the events that saws him become Santa Claus. Scott Calvin’s magic is starting to fade and as he’s about to turn 65, he realizes he can’t be Santa forever. The only solution is to try and find a replacement to take over, whilst simultaneously preparing his family for a new adventure in the South Pole. Along the way, Scott discovers a new clause that forces him to re-think his role as Santa – and as a father.
Has The Santa Clauses been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, The Santa Clauses has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Disney. Generally Disney, along with other streamers, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before Disney actually make a decision over a show’s future. So far, The Santa Clauses has had a pretty mixed reaction from audiences and critics alike, with most lamenting the tone and the decision to split this into individual episodes rather than releasing as a fun holiday film. Given the way this show is set up, there’s definitely potential for a sequel. However, given Disney have projected 1.5 billion in losses this quarter, most of which coming from streaming, we’re going out on a limb and predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Disney have not green-lit a sequel, at least not yet. However, if this is renewed, we can expect about a year’s turnaround time and another season to drop in Christmas 2023. If it’s renewed, despite the show being envisioned as a limited series, we could well see all the cast return again with a new threat to Christmas looming, along with plenty of familial drama. As mentioned above, we predict that this will not be renewed but we could be completely wrong! We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!
