Renewed Or Cancelled?
The Mosquito Coast is a remake of the movie sporting the same name. After a pulsating first season, the series returns with a slower pace and a much bigger focus on the family dynamic. After finishing all 10 episodes, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is The Mosquito Coast Season 2 about?
The story this time around sees Allie, Margot, Charlie and Dina off together, trying to find a refuge for themselves. They soon find it in Casa Rojo, but they quickly realize all is not what it seems. The place is surrounded by the cartel, and the leader of Casa Rojo is actually working under a far more dangerous player called Guillermo. When Allie and the family arrive, they find themselves caught right in the middle of this. If that wasn’t enough, family drama ensues between the group as more of the past is unveiled, including exactly why Allie and Margot are on the run and what led to this very moment. It’s a shocking reveal for sure and this first episode sets things up for the rest of the show… which tiptoes around without doing very much for far too long. Has The Mosquito Coast been renewed for season 3?
At the time of writing, AppleTV+ has not renewed The Mosquito Coast for season 3. Given Apple’s track record for renewing a lot of its shows, it’s perhaps only a matter of time before they do announce this. Generally Apple and other streamers gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Shantaram) Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. So far, The Mosquito Coast has had a pretty poor reaction from critics and audiences, with a lot commenting on the laborious pace and how drawn out this story has been. Given the way the show is set up, we’re going out on a limb and predicting that this will be renewed for a third season. Why? Well, Apple seem to be renewing everything these days and we’d imagine the viewing figures for this are probably quite good. We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!
What we know about season 3 so far:
Barely anything is known as season 3 at this point as Apple have not made a definitive decisions over the show’s future just yet. However, it’s likely that this will be renewed and it’s a matter of time before we get confirmation of this. Expect more of Margot, Charlie and Dina’s story to be unveiled, potentially with them having to defend their newfound community on the Mosquito Coast.
