The whole show can be completed in around 90 minutes and at the end, you might be left wanting more. But will Man Vs Bee get a second series? Here’s what we know.
What is Man Vs Bee about?
As the title suggests, the show is about one man versus a bee! It’s a simple premise and it’s a wonder that it hasn’t been done before. Atkinson stars as the man in question, Trevor Bingley, a kind and loving man who meets the bee while house-sitting at an arrogant couple’s luxury mansion. During the 9-episode run, Trevor gets increasingly exasperated by the buzzing nuisance and does all in his power to kill it, using everything from a whisk to a flame thrower! Does he kill the bee? Or is there a vicious sting in the tale? Well, we aren’t going to spoil that for you here. But the series does leave open the possibility of a sequel.
Has Man VS Bee been renewed for Season 2?
At the time of writing, a second series has not been announced by either the show’s star or the series co-creator Will Davies. But this isn’t to say Trevor Bingley won’t return. At the end of the series, he is on a camping holiday with his daughter and he is joined by another bee. The two go to war almost immediately although we never get to see who gets the upper hand. If there is another series, it could follow on from this scene with Trevor causing his usual brand of chaos while battling the bee on the campsite. There is also scope for a series without the bee, as we learned during the first season that Trevor had previously gone to war with other things that he thought were against him, including a shredder! Therefore, there is plenty of scope for a Man Vs (Something Else) series that goes on to have multiple seasons featuring Bingley and other assorted foes. This is just speculation but if you’re a fan of the show, you will be keen to see Trevor Bingley back on your screens again in some capacity.
When could we see the second season of Man Vs Bee?
It probably won’t be for a while as Atkinson is currently attached to Wonka, a new adaption of Roald Dahl’s classic story. According to the actor’s IMDB page, he is also working on a new show featuring his famous Mr Bean character, entitled Old Bean. Sadly, it probably won’t be live-action as this article in the Daily Mail suggests it will be animated. Still, any Mr Bean is better than no Mr Beam and if Atkinson is involved in its creation, it might still be worth watching. The movie is now in post-production so it might be that Atkinson has finished his work on that one. But if he is still working on Old Bean, it might be that a second season of Man Vs Bee will be postponed until after that has been completed. As such, we probably won’t see him return as Trevor Bingley until late next year or 2024. Of course, this is assuming that another series gets commissioned but as the show has received positive reviews, it is likely that Netflix will be keen to capitalize on this. For now, we will just have to wait and bee…erm see! Would you like to see Man VS Bee return for a second season? Or do you think the story has run its course?
