What is Devil In Ohio about?
Devil In Ohio is an intriguing show that feels caught in two minds about what sort of story it wants to tell. On the one hand, this is a psychologically charged thriller, centering on a mysterious girl called Mae who is taken in by Suzanne Mathis, a doctor. Unfortunately, Mae’s arrival completely cracks the family foundations and threatens to tear them apart completely, especially as it becomes clear that Mae is not as innocent as she seems. On the other side of things there’s a good deal of teen romance and drama. Jules and Helen are sisters who don’t see eye to eye and between boy trouble, social woes and parties, all of this drama bubbles up and explodes in a rather messy way. Has Devil In Ohio been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Devil In Ohio has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Netflix. Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future. So far, Devil In Ohio has had a pretty mixed reception with critics giving this show average to good reviews but audiences (at the time of writing) more positive overall. This is ultimately one of those shows that’s not going to ignite the small screen and the ending is actually quite conclusive too. Not only that, but this has been billed as a miniseries. Taking everything into consideration, we’re predicting that Devil In Ohio will not be renewed for a second season. There’s definitely potential here but the story appears to have run its course and it seems unlikely that the plot can match the pace and intensity of this one. What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel. The conclusion does open things up for a follow-up should Netflix go down that route. We could see a new cult leader show back up, leading the Satanists, along with Suzanne’s life continuing to spiral out of control. If this one is renewed, expect plenty of drama and horror, with there likely to be another 8 episodes to devour.
