What is 1899 Season 1 about?
A group of European migrants leave London on a steamship called the Kerberos. They’re determined to make a new life for themselves in New York. However, on the way the Kerberos encounters another migrant ship, long-abandoned for months in the ocean called the Prometheus. As they begin to probe deeper into this strange ship, the more sinister, disturbing and horrific the mystery becomes. What starts as a simple voyage soon escalates into so much more, as every passengers begins to question the nature of their reality. To give much more away would be a disservice to this series and it’s one of those shows you should take your time with – although the desire to binge is strong with this one! Has 1899 been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, 1899 has not been renewed for a second season. Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future. Unfortunately, despite earlier predicting that this will be renewed, Netflix have announced that 1899 has now been cancelled. That’s awful news for fans of the show and we’re just as bummed about the news as you are.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have just cancelled the show.
